I just got back from the Women’s World Cup, and it was an amazing experience! The tournament saw the Netherlands win in a brilliant display of skill and teamwork. It was extra special because new teams like China, Peru, and Colombia joined the competition for the very first time.
One of the coolest parts was seeing Chinese football enthusiasts in full force—some even joked about having 23 players for a 5-a-side game! The energy from the fans and the display of national pride with so many teams waving their flags really made the atmosphere unforgettable.
In the final, Brazil brought a very strong team and only fell short to the Netherlands. The Dutch team was completely different from the one that won the last tournament. Their fresh talent and hard work showed just how much potential there is in women’s football in the country.
Colombia had a fantastic journey too. They drew 2-2 with Spain in the last minutes of the game, which forced a penalty shootout for the third place match. In one of the most dramatic finishes, Colombia won the penalty shootout against Spain, earning a hard-fought third place finish.
There was also a heartfelt moment after the final—a group photo with all the teams together. Despite some players carrying injuries from the intense matches, everyone’s spirit and effort shone through.
I really want to give a special mention to two new female referees who were part of the tournament. They did an incredible job and helped bring women’s football even more into the spotlight. Their performance is a clear sign of the growing talent and dedication in the sport.
A big shout-out also goes to LATAM for their resilience and positive attitude, especially during the final phase of the tournament. Their determination really made an impact on the games.
And we can’t forget about Peru. Even after dealing with four late cancellations, they still managed to put on a great game. It was impressive to see them overcome those challenges and perform with heart.
Overall, the Women’s World Cup was an unforgettable event filled with exciting matches, inspiring moments, and a display of true sportsmanship from everyone involved. I loved every minute of it, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
